A pity I had to leave before the end to catch a train back to London

With a longish discussion on drummers during the Joe Boyd/Robert Wyatt Q&A session, perhaps it’s not surprising that they couldn’t encourage any women to ask questions during the Corn Exchange talk on Saturday.

As Robert Wyatt pointed out on more than one occasion during the talk, the Boyd book is a superb read (I’ve nearly finished it). It does more than just name check a list of ‘60s pop musicians. It’s also a fine political and social history of the period.

There was a gasp from the audience, after Joe Boyd’s anecdote concerning Jimi Hendrix manager Mike Jeffreys and his fear of flying. A spooky tale.

PS I see that Robert Wyatt was playing the cornet during David Gilmour’s Albert Hall gig on Monday night. David Bowie was also there…

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/5030032.stmNickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17755668478292141676noreply@blogger.com
